Restaurant to relocate to downtown St. Louis

A Vietnamese restaurant is relocating from University City to a bigger space in downtown St. Louis.

Dao Tien Bistro is taking over the 2,500-square-foot space at 822 Olive St. that SanSai Japanese Grill vacated more than a year ago.

Dao Tien Bistro is currently located at 8600 Olive Blvd., just east of Novus Development’s proposed $189.4 million development at Olive Boulevard and Interstate 170.

Gershman Commercial Real Estate Steve Symsack represented Dao Tien Bistro and its owner, Diane Bui, in the lease transaction. Sansone Group’s Tim McFarland represented the landlord, Paul Brown Developer LP.

The downtown retail and restaurant submarket is among the softest across the region. At the end of 2017, downtown had a 5.2 percent vacancy rate compared with the overall St. Louis average of 4.3 percent, according to CBRE research. Downtown in recent months has seen the exits of Robust Wine Bar and Alumni Saint Louis. The latter of the two, located at 200 N. 13th St., closed its doors in May to make way for renovation work for two new restaurants at the location.

Downtown also has seen the arrival of Kiin Essentially Thai, which opened recently at The MX development, and The Eatery, One Metropolitan Square’s new food hall.
