Tidal Wave Wash Center has closed on a deal to open in Maplewood, one of seven new locations the local car wash chain has planned for the St. Louis region.
The company signed a 10-year lease to occupy 1.58 acres at Maplewood Commons at South Hanley Road and Folk Avenue, a parcel formerly occupied by Applebee’s. The full-service car wash is slated to open by September following five months of construction, said owner Mace Nosovitch.
Tidal Wave was represented by Mark Kornfeld of Sansone Group, and the landlord, an entity affiliated with The Kroenke Group, was represented by Pace Properties’ Patrick Willett and Evan Barnett in the deal. Kornfeld said the process started in late 2019 when Sansone Group first approached Applebee’s, whose Maplewood location was not performing well, to negotiate a termination agreement and then with TKG for a new lease.
The Maplewood location is one of seven Tidal Wave has lined up to open. A full-service car wash will open in Ellisville, at 127 Clarkson Road, in April, and two express locations will open in Hazelwood, at 5911 Howdershell Road, and Fenton, at 1920 Bowles Avenue, later this month and in April. In addition, construction is starting on three express car wash locations at Highway N in Lake St. Louis, Greenmount Road in O’Fallon, Illinois, and on Zumbehl Road in St. Charles. Those three locations are expected to open this fall, Nosovitch said.
The company, which started in Chesterfield in 2016, currently has five locations in the region.
