SSM Health, Sansone break ground on North County pediatrics office

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and Sansone Group started construction Thursday on what officials said is the first pediatric specialty health care center in North County.

Sansone Group will build and own the 15,000 square-foot medical building, on 2.3 acres located at 3878 Pershall Road in Ferguson. The new facility will house SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Specialty Services and also an office of SSM Health Medical Group Pediatrics, according to health system officials. The building is expected to open in April 2019.

HBD Construction will be building the facility and KAI Design & Build is the architect, according to Sansone, which declined to disclose the project’s cost or terms with SSM. The property had an appraised value of $589,700, according to St. Louis County real estate records.

Representatives from Sansone Group and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital join to break ground on a new pediatric specialty services center to be built in Ferguson. Sansone Group will own the building.

SSM Health officials said in a release that the health care system expects the new center will offer specialty services including gastroenterology, ENT (otolaryngology), orthopedics, pulmonology, neurology and endocrinology.

Steven Burghart, president of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, said the new facility will allow SSM to expand services to other locations within St. Louis.

“Together with our clinical partners at SLUCare physician group, we are proud to expand specialty services of nationally-ranked SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to the North County area,” Burghart said in a statement. “This development signifies our commitment to provide high-quality, safe, exceptional care to children and families throughout our region.”

SSM Health, which had 2017 revenue of $6.4 billion, has more than 40,000 employees at health care facilities across four states.

The Sansone Group is led by Chairman and CEO Anthony Sansone Sr. Jim Sansone serves as principal along with his brothers Tim, Doug and Nick Sansone.
