The St. Charles City-County Library District has acquired the former 6 North Cafe in Wentzville as its next branch location.

The library district plans to convert the 3,357-square-foot restaurant into a small library branch to join its 12 other locations. It’s tapped Product Architecture + Design for preliminary schematics.

Officials are in the early stages of those plans, so neither the type of branch nor an opening date have been determined, said Jan Bardon, who heads communications for the library district. The district has different types of branches, like express or general purpose and community branches.

The library acquired the property, at 10 Cliff View Drive in the Wentzville Bluffs shopping development, for $1.3 million from 6NWB LLC, an entity affiliated with Richard Podhorn, state filings and data from real estate firm Reonomy show.

Mark Kornfeld of Sansone Group represented the seller, and Gregory Russell of Colliers represented the library system in the deal.
